Maybe this is a dumb question, but it sounds like a vector in my barely informed brain so I'll ask it.

If miners are designed to guess numbers all day, couldn't you just modify one to brute force private keys or seed phrases all day? An attacker wouldn't need a double spend. He could just spend some other unlucky bastard's money.

ASICS are like real simple designed like they basically can only do hash math… to break ECC (elliptic curve cryptography) requires a way more complex machine than an ASIC
