I am on a mission to create “life context” that can be used by an AI to enhance and upgrade my life experience. Currently I have settled on a journal style system that allows me to record as many aspects of my day to day activities and interactions as possible. The system involves the creation of a .txt file that is laid out in an AI friendly way, easy to parse and human readable if needed. So far I have created 3 “apps” using Shortcuts which comes standard with iOS. I am having a ball using Shortcuts! So far I have a V1 finance, general entry and bowel health data collection systems.

Quick Log is also a good name for a bowel movements app

Yes! 🤣 I did think about something less diplomatic!

I started a pre-loadable life coach profile txt that sets the tone for LLM conversations. The profile that I worked up called “Future Self” was built by asking the model to ask me 30 or so questions about what is important to me as far as lifestyle and other things go. It’s pretty cool. You can build a whole board of advisors.

That’s a GREAT idea! I will have to do something similar to “question” my journal.txt. Until there is some sort of always on life data collection system that makes sense I figure that creating a super lightweight and easy to use input system will bridge that gap. Working on creating a life coach profile in a similar fashion as yours makes total sense!

So the Bowel Scout works by asking 3 questions. 1. What is the structure of your poo? This uses the Bristol scale. 2. What was the colour? 3. How much effort/pain was there? Based on these answers, an entry is made in the journal.txt that will give an AI clues as to what is going on. If there is abnormal activity then an alert ⚠️ is triggered and noted in the entry with a health alert hashtag. This also automatically creates a high priority flagged scheduled reminder in the Reminders App for the next day as a follow up prompting a doctor’s visit.

How’d you set up the finance app?

You get presented with 4 menus in this order 1. Sub categories of the Finance main category 2. Hashtags to break it down further, 3. Suppliers and 4. An amount. The entry gets written like the following example:

---

Date: 2025-12-28 17:50 -0800

Category: Finance > Groceries

Tags: #CAD #CanadaJAN26

Supplier: Save-On-Foods

Metric: 65.93

Entry: 2 bottles of wine and 2 bags of chips.

Time and date with a time zone offset (because I am currently travelling overseas). A main category with a sub category. Tags to filter further. A supplier. A metric, in this case an amount. An entry to allow additional notes. This fits the bigger picture entry layout that the other Shortcuts also use.

This means that I can ask an AI to contrast and compare or retrieve a variety of combinations of data as well as review habits etc, all for the purpose of context.

Data is currently saved to iCloud so I can also use the shortcuts from my laptop.
