I read that piece by John Kempf and I have to read it again. That one article explains so much and at the same time is going to piss many, MANY, people straight off.
I also hear "Graze a third, trample a third, and leave a third".
I think you can only, truly manage grazing by having the grass taken right to the ground.

For clarity- this is grossly over simplified, only works on fully recovered grasses with full root reserves, and has to be in a very concentrated window of time to work
