I think it takes a certain amount of technical knowledge for bitcoin to click. Also a curiosity in what money is.

For me it clicked once I discovered what a bitcoin node is and what it meant for it to be decentralized. Before going down this rabbit hole I always heard the word 'decentralized' thrown around but I never truly understood what it meant until I ran a node myself.
