hows the other one doing? :D

If I see that correctly you have a sucker coming off the root stock (the big one) it wont produce fruit its below the the graft point. Whereas the upper portions will grow back and give fruit.

๐Ÿ‘€ whuaaat. Nice. Yeah let's see. Maybe during summer it somehow recovers so I can let it die again in winter. I'm such a bad person with plants.

I just took a course last week to graft apple trees. You have 2 different trees there one that grows tiny and one that produces fruit and they are stuck together.

They are both growing out of the dead tree. There's also smaller ones growing even higher now. I'm not sure if it actually is the tree or some parasitic thing. Lol.

It will be actual fruiting tree. You didn't kill it just ignored it lol

my lemon tree lived in a too tiny pot all winter and it just slightly died off. hope it will forgive me and produce some fruut ๐Ÿ‹

It should, my orange is coming back strong after a year of neglect

This give you an idea of how all fruit trees are being sold these days

its so crazy that this is even possible!

fruit tree can be very unforgiving when you cut them wrong, maybe thats why grafted versions are so common

we lost a great cherry tree last year

I actually believe that cherries are not grafted, sorry to hear it didnโ€™t make it

I think I just discovered a sucker on this apple tree! can I replant it ?

Yes, it is root stock so you will need to graft on a cutting from the top of the tree or a different tree to get apples you want to eat.

In the course they mentioned piling up sawdust around the base of it to encourage it to root out.

:110percent: this

thank you!!

I want to give the grafting a try ๐Ÿชด

lets goooooo ๐ŸŒฑ

It chose you though ๐Ÿฅฐ with whom to meet its end ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜‚

I don't know lol. I just bought it. It had no choice. RIP fren.

RIP

Gorgeous! I

My kumquat died too, two years ago, I've cut it to the stick and forgot it on the balcony. You can see where it was cut off. In three months it sprouted again and here we are. Plants are awesome.

These here are mini oranges. I don't know how they taste but the plan is, every time it drops one in death agony, I'll put it in an aperitivo.

I wish you it's good. The kumquat is absolutely awful.๐Ÿ˜†

I had kumquat once, I decided against getting a plant. ๐Ÿ˜…

Kumwuat makes a nice liquer

I believe that. I tasted it before and it wasnt bad, but this one is killing sour and the peel is very bitter. It was bought in like Ikea or somewhere, I suspect it's not even for eating.

In general you don't eat it as a fruit. Either you make liquer or marmelade or this

I can find receipes if you want, but in greek...

I've been told you can eat it, with a skin too.๐Ÿ‘€

I mean, technically you can... ๐Ÿ˜…

You can. Not recommended though ๐Ÿ˜€

I have a dwarf kumquat, ate the fruit just yesterday, its good, but you need the right variety.

I got very excited when I saw a friend's huge one laden with fruit, but they were terrible.

Wish I'd kept the tag that came with mine, I can't remember the variety name... :(

Update: two already dropped. They taste just like oranges. The speed of dying is alarming tho.

They force-fruit them in hothouses and then they collapse in a normal environment. Nobody would buy them, without the pretty fruits, but it's actually too early in the year for fruiting.

That's cruel.

IT'S LIKE WITH THE pรขtรฉ GEESE! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

That's very opitimt,๐Ÿคฃ

LOL! RIP!

I want to add that I love plant talk so much more than OPRETURN and ResetNIP90 talk.

Beautiful ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿ‹

copper wire coming from the earth and wrapped around thin metal pole in the plant dirt. Thank me later.

Was gonna suggest this...

Does that ground it or something similar?
