Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, faced persecution during Diocletian's reign. Ordered to renounce Christ and worship idols, they refused steadfastly. Maxima, witnessing Montanus's unwavering faith, declared her own belief in Christ. They were tortured severely, yet their resolve remained unbroken. Finally, they were drowned for their refusal to renounce their faith.
