For all the new #nostriches, here’s an overly simplified metaphor using cars 🚗 to explain some of the key concepts:
️⃣ Nostr - the protocol itself. This is like the internal combustion engine vs. say, an electric battery
️⃣ Clients - #Damus is a very popular Twitter-like client for iOS devices. Clients are like the type of car you’re driving. You can have many different types of cars all using internal combustion engines
️⃣ Relays - the Nostr “events” (or posts) you see depend entirely on what relays you are connected to at any given time. This is sort of like the radio stations you listen to in the car (except you can also create stuff that those radio stations broadcast to other listeners)
️⃣ Npub (public key) - the way you are identified in the Nostr protocol. This is like the VIN number of your car. No two are alike, and everyone can see it (unlike your Nsec (private key), which 🚨 you should never share with anyone! 🚨
️⃣ NIP-05 Identifier - a human readable identifier for your public key. This is like having a vanity plate 😏
