These types of boxes and services are never a good deal, you're paying way more for convenience. Your best options are:

- Find a group of friends or a way to purchase part of a cow, my family buys a 1/4 cow and that lasts us a long time. Tons of ground beef, roasts and steaks to start with.

- Go to club stores and buy larger bulk cuts that have not been butchered. A good example of this is buying a large "rib roast" trimming and cutting it into steaks yourself. You can usually get a great yield from this.

- Obviously and most importantly, buy a chest freezer and keep an eye out for "meat sales" they usually happen every few months at different stores. Higher quality roasts can usually be cut into steaks too so you can find a good deal in these situations.

Thank you! That’s what I suspect… that it is not worth it. Right now I buy good quality (as good as they sell) bulk packages at Costco. I regularly slice larger roasts and pork loins into steaks and chops. Since we are Keto, I batch cook proteins several times a week. I have a friend who want to go in together and purchase a cow. We just need to get a second freezer and save up the funds for the big purchase. I do need to keep an eye out for sales. I don’t look for them at the moment.

Chest freezer is essential. I've found a 1/4 cow is pretty sufficient to fill most of it if you get a larger one

Thanks. Our upright is pretty full and accessed to often. Definitely need a chest freezer.
