I don't see it like that. I think being conscious of your pain and being in a safe space that allows you to feel is always helpful. but what I agree it misses is the possibility to go beyond the ego, because the therapist must also be willing to dismantle his own ego while listening. but it's not a therapy issue, but something we all stuggle with.

Yep, that basically was the end of my marriage when my ex started going to therapy and came to the conclusion that she was trans.
