I used to spend a lot of time on Twitter. Mostly in anonymous Turkish underground queer circles. It was a small community, but anonymity was really important to us.

People would disappear for a few weeks, change their names and profile pictures, then come back, and nobody would know it was them. It was hard to keep track of who was who, since everyone used anonymous names and constantly changing profiles.

But it was good. It felt safe.

for this level of safety/privacy on nostr it is better to use an alt account.

Also, this kind of thing would never really work on Nostr, because we used to change our handles too but on Nostr, your npub always stays the same.
