HODL admits his npub will sometimes be secretly operated by bots. See attached post.

Even if he didn't admit it, he constantly demonstrates untrustworthiness anyway.

I try to demonstrate trustworthiness on here, and I promise you I have never turned by npub over to a bot, and I don't see any reason I ever would, especially without making it clear for anyone interacting with the bot.

How do we handle this in the long run? I've talked about the need for a robust tagging system on nostr and the highest priority tag to implement probably being a "met this npub in person and verified they are who they say they are at this UNIX timestamp" but I think I've also asked this before, what do we do about people who secretly turn their npub over to bots sometimes?

How effective would the tagging system be for this? How useful would "caught secretly using bot" or "suspected of secretly using bot" tags be? It seems like they'd be pretty useless. You can suspect pretty much everyone of secretly using a bot, there are plenty of weak red flags that are enough to notice e.g. me being a highly active user. And will there really be many people dumb enough to get caught?

It seems like the only solution would be more overall accountability. We would need to use other tags like "refused to apologize after this fucked up post" or "refused to admit this statement was incorrect after saying it" to hold people accountable for the behavior of their npubs, bot or not. People would need to actually try to be better than a bot (or if you're reading this in the future, maybe as good as a super bot that actually contributes). People would need to expect the same of each other and stop being like "oh look, yet another person bullshitting and bullying someone who's trying to contribute, that's fine."

It's probably not that we need to remind people HODL said he'd use bots, it's that we need to remind people when HODL's npub gaslights people, etc. and not forget the fucked up shit his npub posts that he is responsible for whether it's a bot or not.
