Basically, im far, far more qualified for his job than he (he's in a senior position), thus I suspect he is jealous
Major superiority complex. But I keep it cool as a cucumber. He cant stand it, so he lashes out at me and makes my job difficult at every oppertunity
Well that's a common occurrence in the workplace. How to handle this with finesse is the question.
If you where in his shoes what would a superior talent underling have to do to both gain your respect and convince you to aquiesce your position while saving face?
It's not easy to do this but it's the most cost effective.
Basically this person needs to feel like they are doing you a favor... By relinquishing their position to you... idk what looks like but you would gain their favor, your coworkers favor and it would suggest that the next time you find yourself at the heels of the next person - that they too would benefit from your acent up the corporate ladder so to speak.
One way you might do this is by making this person's workload larger somehow... then suggest to help... Then slowly do only the things he can't do without rubbing it in his face or others faces. Since obviously cares about saving face... That's probably the key to the whole thing.
