If the punishment is only a fine, then it’s not a crime, it’s a just a fee of doing the activity.

I got a 1.6m sat fine for fishing with a barbed hook in mono County Ca.

Imagine fishing for a non native fish that fishing license fees helps support, results in such distorted punitive state penalty.

Any lawyers on your feed that can help me craft my defense?

Would have been better off stealing 1.6m sats of goods from the grocery store. Cops would have not have responded.

I don’t know any lawyers.

But if you can afford the fees, it’s just a cost of business I guess. Should be a deterrent like in your case to use a barbed hook. But if it was a 10 sat fine or if you 10k+ btc then the fine would be a drop in the bucket so you could afford to do it as much as you want.
