Absolutely. I would add creating healthy soil and scalable food production systems. If you don't want to grow all your food now, and who does, design in quick to scale production systems.

Tractoring rabbits and/or chickens for a season so you gain the knowledge and real food, seems like a great investment of my time. A 3 to 6 month supply of food should be all you need with systems ready to go. Planting trees and shrubs that feed people, livestock, and deer will really help as well.

I’d definitely be doing more of that if I had some land… someday.

True, having land is ideal, but there are creative ways to grow where you are or gain access to land until you can afford land.

Gorilla gardening federal and state land, abandoned lots, roadways, ect. I do this by saving seeds and pits and planting them along trails. Who would not want an apple or plum while they are hiking? I will occasionally take a plant in my backpack when I started a bunch from seed or cuttings. I plant these in my favourite hiking spots.

Container gardening and a vermicompost setup could be moved with you when you get land

If you were close to me, i may let you garden or run animals on my land. If you can convince me that my soil will improve and I get a small part of the product. Talk to land owners near you. 'I notice you are not using that land and here is how I can improve it while growing some food'. These relationships can become permanent in some cases

I wish I would have done more of this before I got land. Asking yourself 'how can I...?' Several times a day is a very powerful exercise. It let's your subconscious mind do some of the work.

Sorry about the rant. The time to grow is now.
