Contemplation of the word without.

The word itself is compiled of two words that when looked at by itself dont reflect the actual meaning of the word that people recall when reading or hearing it or expressing it themselves.

With and out.

Reminds more of a note left by someone in a kitchen ‘ with …… and out’

could be the dog the kid the partner or friend or even a vehicle.

What the individual expressing ‘without’ means is that they do not wish a particular thing to be added to an experience of varying kinds.

A with but out. Maybe thats why they changed to asking if you want it on the side when its a dish.

Again it brings me around to the side of a piece.

The sidepiece and not the main squeeze.

Confetti’s to the cheaters far and wide.

Where it rings true… in the end you could end up without a dog a house a home a kid a partner or a vehicle.

👉 out.

Originally "with" meant against or facing. Later the "facing" sense turned into "together", but there are still cases in modern English where it still means against, like "picking a fight with".

In this original meaning, "without" meant against the outside, i.e. on the outside of (a wall, a house etc). This literal sense is now considered archaic, and its figurative meaning "lacking" has taken over.

archaic. I like that one.
