Thanks for the insight. This can be an important thing I must check out before using.
What do you plan to use ln for?
Nothing but a curiosity. If I had to choose a word it will be cheap money transfer from foreign account to those in mainland. I have still no idea whether it was suitable for.
Lightning is an amazing technology complementing bitcoin because
A) it is super fast (less than 1 second)
B) super cheap fee (few satoshi)
Only problem two user need both to be using Lightning. Note that lightning is a protocol, it is not a brand or a wallet.
Otherwise you cannot do a lightning transfer.
Normal btc address : 3xxx, bcxxx, 1axx
Lightning has 3 format : lnxxxxx (called invoices, one off use)
LNxxxx : called LN url , multiple use
Name@domain.com : called LN address, multiple use.
I intend to use LN for saving and zapping (tipping) in nostr but if i ever what to actually do a transaction, both parties must be able to accept lightning transaction , either using LN invoices, LNURL, or LN address
Ps: note that almost no exchange accept lightning network, except kraken.
If you use kraken, then LN is a perfect choice
I think I still have to learn a lot to understand everything what you said, but, either way, the technical aspect is still super curious to me. Thanks for the infor. I must to check after I came back from work today! Thanks anyway! I should have had a wallet to zap to you today!
Do you have a telegram?
If you have, head over to https://t.me/LightningTipBot
It is a custodian lightning wallet for everyone!
No, but I think I can start anytime.
Ok, if you dont have that go to getalby.com
This is another easy to use custodian LN wallet
I have seen this before in many websites. They recommended not only for Lightning network but also for storing a private keys for Nostr. I think I will try this one first. Many thanks for letting me know!
No you dont store your private key!
There is two key on nostr
Npub & nsec.
Npub is a public address. When you register your npub on getalby, you kinda get a username
See mine : ihsanmd@getalby.com
When you activate the LN wallet on getalby.com
You get a custodian LN wallet with ihsanmd@getalby.com as the LN address
You should never gives your nsec (private key) at all cost to anyone.
