People here may remember the good old times of IRC and MUDs. There's one forgotten feature they had which somehow didn't make through to the web 2.0.

Emotes

Perhaps Nostr can revive it?

Do you remember doing on IRC:

/me burps loudly which would render:

Jesterhodl burps loudly.

Different formatting made it stand out from normal messages.

Similarly in MUds you could do more complex emotes

hug #[0] would create a distinct (non-chat) message which would render

Jesterhodl hugs Carla

to the observers

So what do you think about simple IRC and more comolex MUD emotes? That would totally bring back the 90s vibe.
