Hard money makes good times.
About mining and refining gold: Especially the complicated process of verification, refining, and pouring the gold into bullions, starting at minute 44, is jaw-dropping. It is such a massive and intricate infrastructure and industry that one has to conclude that the gold industry will always be around, somehow, fulfilling at least cosmetic and industrial needs.
If it weren't for the corruption and greed of man, gold could have been a good monetary base layer of the 100% analog world, and the world would have been a better place. That world is no more, and there is no way back. The world will never be purely analog again; it will forever be digital as well, and increasingly digital.
The World Wide Web for everyone came online in 1993, only 16 years later Bitcoin manifested itself. Historically, it happened almost instantly, as soon as all the building blocks were available. The analog gold world evolved into a digital Bitcoin world. And Bitcoin today is already 14 years old! In 2025, the Genesis of Bitcoin will be closer to the start of the public internet than to the present.
Bitcoin is poised to be the monetary base layer of the digital world. Whether we can pull it off depends on how corrupt we ourselves are. Do we want truth? Can we even handle hard money?
