I've been gifted a few toys and whatnot but I keep them in the drawer. I knew they meant well, but I have a different perspective on signaling about bitcoin irl. Ironically, I wouldn't have understood this lesson without opening up a bit in certain circles. This is why Saifedean's tweet/warning from 2019 (at least to my knowledge) is probably the most important piece of wisdom from newcomers that I've encountered so far: shut up about bitcoin!

yeah, i am more interested in promoting nostr than bitcoin

the ostrich logo and the ostrich graphic are pretty but nobody thinks it means anything much, literally my main daily wear shirts are 3 nostr shirts, and then sometimes the bitcoin atlantis conference shirt

i have a little card sleve that has a bitcoin/lightning logo and says "bitcoin is better" and a flashy lights when it RFID scans, but mainly shopkeepers and the odd person behind me at a checkout sees it... it started a conversation with someone the other day, check out chick's big bro is into "crypto" but it is kinda hip here on madeira, after all the governor of the island is a bitcoiner and tried to get it to be a thing here and still organises and collaborates - such as helping organise the conference last year
