The conspiracy take is incorrect. Trans folks and allies fought aggressively and at their peril via grassroots initiatives to get the tiniest recognition by democrats, who didn’t want to touch their civil rights issues with a 10 foot pole at the time. They finally got some traction in the last few cycles. Their wins were 100% not top down. What has occurred was not an engineered distraction from (nearly identical) monetary policy in both major parties.
