Clients could decide to allow Alice to mute Bob such that Carol can't see Bob's replies to Alice posts. That would be a kind of benign explanation that still includes narrative control but then that same client should also tell Bob that his replied will only be visible on alternative clients.
Im not talking about how clients should work. What does what you said even have to do with how primal users read from their caching server?
