Watching a doc on the San Joaquin River. Large portion on the Bureau of “Reclamation” destroying all the landowner’s livelihoods during the depression with plans to redirect the river. The farmers and land owners along the river cobbled together every last cent they could and fought the project for 16 years.
The Supreme Court threw out their case on a technicality (of course) but they were able to salvage 10% of the original flow, which still exists today.
The land owners in the valley all banded together and created a sizable river valley conservatory and restoration foundation after the government was done pillaging their land.
Normals will tell you things would be the exact opposite with no government - that private citizens would obviously destroy the environment with no rules and that the government has to save it. But that’s because they’re ignorant and retarded.
Side note: I would love to see every major damn in the United States replaced with a state of the art nuclear reactor. Let them rivers run baby and let’s get with the fucking times. Nuclear ftw.
