It’s a dosing funnel. It’s the only way to properly use the timer dial that controls the grinder.

They’re great machines, will last you years. A bit of a learning curve in the beginning to get the shots to pour nicely if you’re new to making espresso. Once dialed in, pretty easy.

I pretty exclusively drink americanos so it’s very tempting.

You’ll love it then. On the right side it has a hot water spout, perfect for making americanos. Immediately start adding hot water to your espresso after pouring shots.
