Humans are bias and fallible, if a person or people can benefit from influence or control of a system, that system will be influenced or controlled for their benefit.

This is why the early days of democracy and decentralized systems are historically most prosperous and free. No has had time to corrupt/infiltrate the system. And why centralization corruption leads to revolution.

Early America was unique because people had the ability to evade unjust laws and persecution by moving to a different state or traveling west. And why people historically found refuge in mountains/highlands.
