You are right. What you just mentioned is literally in my roadmap. It should be a one-click process and should not directly serve the URL.
By the way, this project is in a different repository. I will open source it and share it with you tomorrow.
Checked out zapit.live was able to pay and view the content.. good job.. In our experience with pay gated content we found
1. Naked content url cannot be exposed. B’cos of scammers running bots to harvest them
2. If it is more than 1 click, users will not pay for content….
