YouTube requires that you log in to view some channels but not others. If you assume this is only for 18+ content you’d be wrong.

YouTube has 18+ content?

Yessir.

Things such as sexual intercourse, surgeries, war footage, violent rhetoric.

Unfortunately they include way more than that in the grouping but those are some more extreme examples.

That doesn’t touch on the other at least two categories.

“restricted mode”

“Kids mode”

which are opt-in.

I haven’t tried. Is that an app?

Basically degoogled yt front end, you can use it on other people's servers or run it yourself. If you want a phone app I'd use newpipe
