🇪🇺 The European Commission wants to create a single regulator for finance, similar to the SEC in the United States.
Currently, each European country manages its own rules for banks, stock exchanges, and crypto platforms, creating a fragmented market that is slow to harmonize.
The plan envisions giving more power to ESMA (the European Securities and Markets Authority) so that it can directly supervise major platforms, crypto service providers, and players operating in multiple countries, instead of leaving it to each national regulator.
