pruned nodes are nonsense.
they are just relays.
we should instead store stuff better and compress them better as well.
a normal 1tb laptop should be able to have a full node for the next 40-50 years.
things being pruneable doesn't mean anything. blob data on the blockchain is the problem.
but still we need smarter ways to store blockchain and also compression. seriously.

Phones could. But companies decided that we don't need SD cards
maybe on new phones after we store blockchain in a better way and compress some parts.
