5 weeks ago I put in most of the code necessary to handle new giftwrap DMs. Then the encryption algorithm came into question, and it appeared it might take a long time before it was approved. So I pushed that work aside and instead implemented NIP-04 style DMs. Yes, including sending them.

If you get release 0.8 or use the master branch you can have NIP-04 style DMs.
