Many coffee chains are selling iced coffee labeled (& priced) as cold brew.

I work at a DD, it definitely happens sometimes but never maliciously.
It takes significantly longer to brew so when we run out we will offer an ice coffee with a shot of espresso to try to improvise, other times it happens from not reading the sticker or pulling the wrong lever.
You’re right, and I agree it’s most often not malicious. One time at a DD I (politely) returned my ice coffee and asked for a cold brew and it took a couple tries; they told me they’d put the iced coffee behind the cold brew lever. I gave up cold brew for lent so maybe I won’t be able to tell tomorrow, and can stop being snobby 🙂
