I can't remember the name but it was a party trick to stop over indulgence in wine. If you filled it up too much then the wine would over take that hole inside and all the wine would pour out it. I remember this was used for other stuff too like a fancy fountain that would fill up over the course of the day, then drain out at the end of the day
