The first pride was a riot as a response to police brutality. They rioted hard enough that the state came to the table and gave them a say. Rather than stop the state so this could never happen to anyone ever again, they chose to remake a state that had more power but protected them.

BLM was closer with defund the police. That would have helped everyone. Most black equality movements want more government with them protected specifically by even more laws just like the LGBTQ movement.

The lessons that Bitcoins freedom lovers could take from these movements are there if we are willing to look. We can already see many people calling themselves freedom lovers actively fighting for more government that protects them instead of less government to protect everyone.

Don't let being a bigot stop you from learning the lessons of history that can help you achieve freedom. We are dangerously close to falling into the same trap as a movement.

Sadly I have seen more homophobic posts than pro freedom and equality posts about pride month on nostr. Thankfully not in my follows or I would have been making changes to my follows.

I’m convinced the most outspoken homophobes are the most severely repressed homosexuals.

yeah it's part and parcel with free speech

i try to keep all the hate out of my feed as well

Tinfoil hat on...

The purpose of all the rage bait amplification on algorithm social media is to convince people that others can't be trusted with free speech. This is why no matter what you do it is always in your feed, there is no setting to truly block anything or anyone from being put in your feed. Constant "We're trying" and every change gets worse while we do next to nothing on nostr and it is basically solved.

End tinfoil hat time.

now if we could mobilize a coalition to… unwrite laws rather than write them

The whole point of the left right false dichotomy is that you lose sight of the fact that they are both authoritarian. There is an entire free authoritarian axis of the graph. The axis you forgot about is more important than the left or right axis you've been trained to obsess over.

so must be a citizen coalition agreeing to collectively apply leverage

which ostensibly is part of what this place here is

The LGBTQ community should use their rights and arm tf out of themselves.
