Have any of you guys figured out a good flow for using apps that require #Orbot on android?

I'd like to keep an always on VPN but find myself manually switching to Orbot for the above apps. I don't want to leak my info due to my mistakes that come from this manual flow. Is split tunneling a good possibility?

Maybe I just keep my VPN always on, and don't access orbot until I'm behind my router-level VPN....
