Going to do the follower/following purge. Wonder what this month's numbers will be.

Following: Only eight accounts were last active in June. Then I went ahead and deleted those last active in July, which totaled 96. That was the Tweet Limit brouhaha. They came. They posted. He caved. They left.

Followers: No info for 13. Weird. 91 last active in June, and 173 for July. Some people switched instances, but that is only about 20. Again, that high number is the Came, Posted, and Left crowd.

And now mathish type things...

Following: 8%

Followers: 15.4%

Not as bad as Arraignment April.

I feel like we're going to stay pretty flat unless and until more folks start posting stuff here that you can't find anywhere else and the people who are here start sharing that content on their other social media... either that or there is some other major event on X but with other options like Threads now I'm not sure even that would do it. 😐

I think you are right that the growth here will be slower than what we've seen. X-Twitter will continue its slow decline with bursts that match his tantrums, but the other options, like Threads and Bluesky, will pick up most.

But I think that we are also not going to see the big declines that have occurred when people quickly go back. People who join will be looking for a social media alternative to X-Twitter, not a social media replacement for X-Twitter.
