By now I'm quite happy to use Nostr only for public content. Happily uninstalled Twitter from my phone a while ago and no regrets.

For public groups, say as a replacement for telegram chats, it seems a little less practical... but any group larger than 20 people is basically a public channel anyway. No privacy resists 20+.

DMs on Nostr are improving, but they are still clunky. Especially syncing between different apps.

Whatsapp is the final boss to beat. I'd really like to not use any META apps... but the network effects are huge. Too many family, friends, work contacts are only easily accessible via whatsapp.

For that we still need to improve Nostr group chats, dms, etc... hopefully we can manage it in 2-3 years.

Working on it my fren, I'm focused on public groups with chachi.chat it's already interoperable with 0xChat and Flotilla and only going to get better.

From my personal pint of view, Nostr doesn't necessarily work for groups, especially if we talk about privacy.

I'm happy with Simplex, but it is true that the Whatsapp network effect is brutal.

However, in small, very close family and people groups (including the Telegram Tuesday Meetup group), I'm starting to use it and with good comments, although it is true that it is not going to displace Whatsapp or Telegram in the short term.

I've been 5 years trying to get rid of WhatsApp. Today, I use session with family and friends. The rest of the people, if they do not install a simple app to talk with me, they call me.

I have a family group OK WhatsApp but I one check it once in a while, the app is silenced and I plan to install it even on a different profile in my grapheneos
