re: his point on retention. It is true that most people do not stick around. It’s sad that “make people addicted to your app“ by pumping retention is the standard of success. My main goal is to just build tools that people find useful and gives them freedom in ways to communicate that don’t “go down” or get censored. Maybe most people don’t need or want this solution right now. Maybe elons vision of free speech is “good enough” for most people. But is it ready for the masses if/when they do come? Not without a built-in solution to spam (i.e. cost baked into the protocol, not bolted on like with zaps).

Nostr right now is a better IRC with nice app support. Which is very nice and I enjoy it, but I'm under no delusion that it actually plays in the same ballpark as social media platforms.
