Lightning doesn't work very well when it comes to new users buying some Bitcoin. I suppose it's unfair to expect L2 solutions to be able to circumnavigate the need for a user to have a utxo on the chain to be anchored to but it brings up some basic truths about how accumulating Bitcoin just fundamentally requires on chain activity unless you happen to have some inbound capacity from previous spends.
