Need to make a chicken coop that isn't too expensive and will make the boss happy AKA the wife 😁 Looking at maybe 5'x8'x6' would like for there to be a way to clean out easy enough and grab the eggs too. Last time we had chickens we bought 4 and wouldn't you know it if every dang one of them was a rooster! Oh well deciding to try again. Oh and FYI we live in Northeast Florida so it is hot most of the year. Any ideas thanks in advance. #chickens #permaculture #grownostr #homesteading #

I tried uploading a video of our setup but it wouldn’t work (2nd day on here so still figuring things out).
Here are a few pics of our setup. Hardware mesh to keep rodents out and allow ventilation is important.
Solar powered automatic door is probably the best $100 I’ve spent.
All the materials in our build besides the hardware mesh and pt studs were repurposed.
8x20’ structure cost about $650 in materials
Hope this helps!

The plywood platform with cardboard and paper to catch poop is about 5’ high and the roost bars about 6.5’ so I can walk under them.
The platform on the right is where we feed scraps and some grain (also young chickens can hide from the big ones underneath it)
