Network effects of LN? Oh you mean LN volume (as a payment option for real businesses) that's most of the time not even 1/10th of BTC onchain (which only gets rivaled by Monero)? (I'm referring to Orangefren, Shopinbit or Coincards)

If you want to preserve wealth Monero or Gold would work also very good. Monero would yield you privacy and real fungibility while Gold would give you pretty much the best security of actually preserving your wealth.

Just for comparison, if you bought BTC 10 or 5 years ago you would have made a 393x or 10x.

Monero would have given you a 605x or 4.5x.

Gold would have been a 2.7x or 1.9x.
