For sure. It’s a burnout job.
Almost all social work is IMO. I’ll never understand how some people stay in it for a career. I respect them but it definitely is something one does for the love of others. The pay is crap & it almost always feels like a losing battle. That’s what I’ve seen. 😭
I’ve done a lot of volunteer work with local homeless population & have dealt with addicts on that side. Bringing basic health services is a small thing but I’ve met a lot of interesting people & listened to their stories. It’s definitely a pandemic. I wish more would recognize this & work to understand but it is what it is.
One group I donated to worked hard to get a small village set up & the amount of NIMBY faced was almost enough to make me quit trying. Jerks 😞 Humans always human & trying to make good changes is always hard. We go on.
