freedom

/frē′dəm/

noun

The condition of being free of restraints, especially the ability to act without control or interference by another or by circumstance.

Privacy forms the basis of our freedom. Privacy means the control of our personal data. If privacy is weakened it causes several damages to an individual such as:

1️⃣ Self-cencorship: if we know someone is watching, we act differently. We contain ourselves, that cause really severe psychological damage, which could lead to severe illnesses in many cases.

2️⃣ Personal data as a weapon: everyone has harmless, but embarassing questions, thoughts that they do not want to share in public, that can give controlling power to those who can reach this without explicit authorization.

3️⃣ Judging: If privacy is broken, we will never be left without judging eyes. We won't have a psychological safety, where we can be ourselves, without the fear from judgement. We cannot act differently to different people, because anyone can know any of our acts. We usually talk differently to our partner, friends, neighbours, workmates, boss, etc. If privacy is broken, each of our steps will be monitored, otherwise why would we break privacy. That means, anywhere we act, we need to know that anyone who has interest in us, can see us in any circumstance. This will force us to be the same person everywhere.

4️⃣ Obedience: when humans know they are watched, they will be more obedient. Obedience is "The act of obeying.", doing what we are told. Is freedom to "do what we are told"?

Have a great day! 💜🦙
