I don't think the usage is low. I only scroll global and every day.

Every few hours I see new accounts. its the wild wild west. Only peosple that realize the trap of traditional social media will eventually move here. Nostr is gonna get adopted like bitcoin. First ignore. Then fight. Then join. I see it now with some hahaha
