I was 11 or 12 years old when it happened. We were dismissed early and our parents had to come up pick us up early. Strange times.
Back then I lived in the Dominican Republic.
So fun fact, I grew up in a military town and had friends whose parents were in DC and at the WH and Pentagon and other various military locations at the time.
We had heard rumors all day but because of our close ties to the military they kept everything off and I didn’t see anything until after school (3-4ish). Looking back, I can’t believe they were able to keep that from us all day and then after nobody really talked about it because it was all to real for us. Many of our families were affected years later by soldiers being deployed and then having ours friends deployed too and some never coming back.
God what crazy times we were living in then and what crazy times we live in now!
