At the Mont Pelerin Society, Ludwig von Mises had no patience for “compromises with socialism.”
When Milton Friedman defended the negative income tax and certain state interventions, Mises cut him down:
“You’re all a bunch of socialists!”
The room went silent, but the lesson endured:
Every concession to statism is a crack through which servitude slips in.
I think of collectivism somewhat like Doctor Who's Angels, any image of an angel becomes an angel.
