The timechain is currently 464.2 GB

Sheeeeeshhhh okokok so it is def possible I just won’t be storing it on my laptop I’ll get a cheap SSD instead, damn lemme actually see if I can go buy one locally rn

Like 500 or so; you don’t need to hold the entire thing; you can prune to 500MB

I was literally just wondering this!!! Okay amazing!!! πŸ«‚ what about a lighting node is that very different ?

That’s very different and much harder

Damn my gut feeling was correct.. ): so I just need a hardware upgrade then ?

Less about hardware. It's just something that needs to always be online and running.

and channel management

I can only limit to 1GB but I’ll do it

Holy shit it’s gonna take forever to catch up huh 😭 I’m still 10 yrs behind and its been synchronizing for 20 mins

Your time preference is showing.

🀣 wrong one Tony, just not gonna sit in front of my computer till it’s done! gonna go workout and do other stuff then since my work laptop is now unusable for a day or so by it’s own estimates πŸ«‚πŸ˜

this is why we wanted small blocks; imagine if blocks were 8MB or 32MB πŸ˜‰

Omggg I wishhhhhhh!!! Does it really need to be this big ?

blocks?

no, they don't

on-chain scaling is highly regarded

Appreciate your time & explanations my fren πŸ«‚

Damn.. I was tryna get 69.69% in the pic but literally was looking for this note to reply to & missed it 🀣😭 but yeah still waiting my fren

The start is huge. The pruning is happening later. The blockchain is like 500Gb.

The pruning happens as you validate; otherwise you’d be forced to store the entire thing at IBD and then prune to the size you want to keep which would defeat the purpose of pruning (ability to run a node with minimum storage requirements)
