I was in stonks when the degen stuff first started happening years ago. It was all new to me but I actually bought one called naked before it pumped hard with all the WSB stuff. I made a nice return then saw them remove the buy button the next day. I was fucking pissed; I realized the whole system is rigged and they don’t even need to hide it. I remember paying a crazy fee to transfer everything off TD Ameritrade and into fidelity because they were one of the few brokers that didn’t restrict trading. But it still didn’t feel right. All my assets and my financial standing were at the mercy of these 3rd party middlemen. Fidelity could just as easily remove the buy button. But at the time I didn’t understand Bitcoin so I never considered there might be other options. NGU in shitcoins is what eventually got me into crypto and then eventually down the rabbithole to Bitcoin only.
