Oh dear.

1982 Britain struggled to prevail over Argentina. If I may put it gently, Britain today is not the Britain of 1982.

And then there's France, so recently chased out of most of West Africa, and reduced to hiring Ukrainian instructors for Tuareg terrorists in Mali in the hope that they can do what France could not.

(Macron's arm-model looks pretty rugged, admittedly. Could challenge Putin to an arm-wrestle).

The Kremlin must be trembling with suppressed sniggers. They might send Belarus to deal with this. Good, better they laugh than go nuclear.

A big red button pressed into action by any head of state will have the same impact, no matter who presses it, or where they are.

Unfortunately, you are 100% correct.

I'm just hoping (a) Starmer and Macron get distracted by something, maybe retirement golf; or (b) Putin doesn't take them seriously, and no party starts the nuke-fest.
