Fascinating note!πŸ™πŸ˜πŸ’œπŸ˜†

I had no idea about other Orwell books. I have a dear Catalonian friend....

Gotta check the book out!😁

Read Down and Out in Paris and London

I just read this few months back, liked it - would love to know your thoughts - does the fact that it’s a century old make it more or less interesting to the reader

Interesting question, I think more due to the historical angle - but I would be just aa happy to read a contemporary Orwell. His writing style is so relaxed, yet detailed and clear.

I love Orwell. He's wrong about socialism β€” it is humbug. But he's right about the brotherhood of mankind. Quotes like this are what I love him for:

"I am walking up and down the line of sentries, under the dark boughs of the poplars. In the flooded ditch outside the rats are paddling about, making as much noise as otters. As the yellow dawn comes up behind us, the Andalusian sentry, muffled in his cloak, begins singing. Across no man's land, a hundred or two hundred yards away, you can hear the Fascist sentry also singing."
