I'm coming to terms with the reality that prElon Twitter was singular in its ability to bring journalists, politicians, and advocates into a common space. It cannot be recreated. Not here, not on Threads, not Bluesky, not Spoutible, not Post, not anywhere else.

Elon's backers got exactly what they wanted— to disrupt grassroots advocacy and make their political contributions more valuable. 😔

Now that there are more than a handful of options, journalists and media organizations have options paralysis. But it’s early. Mastodon will chug along quietly, slowly picking up journalists here and there until suddenly it is the obvious choice. Everyone one else will experience what Threads is going through right now. My timeline is now practically at Twitter levels, but without the trolls.
