Watched it last night. Not bad.

I went into it cold, and thought it would be a by-the-numbers crime procedural. There were some things about the movie that were great. They nailed the time period aesthetic and were able to amp the tension pretty effectively. I thought the supernatural aspect was kind of cheesy, tbh, tho. The glowing doll eyes and whisps of smoky demonic clouds were completely unnecessary and made some scenes feel overdone.

I think it was what I can only describe as a "Nic Cage movie". They get a script that is juuussst good enough to entice ol Nic to take the part, but without his particular gonzo vibe, you would either a) think it was just some weird movie punching above its weight class or b) skip it entirely.
